Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to determine a strategy for optimizing community-based waste management to support the success of the climate village program (Proklim) in Krajan Hamlet, Torongrejo Village, Batu City. The methods used include field observations and interviews with relevant parties, as well as document analysis as secondary data to understand the systems, institutions, and challenges in waste management in the area. The results of the activity indicate that community-based waste management in Krajan Hamlet has been running effectively through the application of the 3R principle, the establishment of a waste bank, and the processing of organic waste into compost. Optimizing waste management is not only able to reduce waste generation and greenhouse gas emissions, but also strengthens the social, economic, and environmental resilience of the community in order to realize a climate-resilient region.
