Reproductive Health Education: Building a Healthy and Responsible Young Generation at the Marthen Luther Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) Abepura

Abstract

Jayapura City is one of the cities with a high number of HIV/AIDS cases in the productive age group. The limited discussion space due to the taboo that arises when covering reproductive health causes many teenagers and young people to get inappropriate and invalid knowledge. The Evangelical Christian Church (GKI) in Tanah Papua was chosen because it is the oldest church denomination in the land of Papua with a dominant indigenous population. This community service can target the congregation at the grassroots level. The purpose of this seminar, in addition to increasing knowledge, was to find the fact that the youth and teenagers in this congregation wanted to be directed in the discussion. In the future, the church is expected to become one of the partners of the medical faculty and together become an initiator to open up space and discuss matters related to reproductive health, specifically in the congregation of teenagers and young people so that issues related to reproductive health can be addressed.
